Planting Bare-Root Fruit Trees
Starting off strong in early March is crucial; this is when bare-root fruit trees acclimate best. Choose a day when the soil is moist but not waterlogged. Dig a hole twice as wide as the roots, but no deeper than their length, preventing sinking or root rot. Gently spread out the roots, fill with native soil mixed with compost for nutrients, and water thoroughly. Staking might be necessary if you live in an area prone to winds.
