Festuca idahoensis
Idaho Fescue
Idaho Fescue (Festuca idahoensis) is an evergreen grass that will grow up to 36 cm tall and 30 cm wide. Forms mounds of short, stiff bluish-green leaves. Blooms from spring to summer with spiked florets that grow atop a tall erect stem. It grows best in full sun and well-drained soils.
Festuca ovina
Hard fescue
Landscapers use hard fescue (Festuca ovina) as a low-maintenance grass for residential lawns. That’s because you only have to mow it twice a year! It’s an exceedingly hardy species that can resist such harsh environmental conditions as subzero weather, drought, and high salinity.
Festuca glauca 'Elijah Blue'
Blue fescue 'Elijah Blue'
A cultivar of Fescue, blue fescue 'Elijah Blue' is considered among the most visually spectacular for its distinctive silvery blue foliage. The flowers are initially the same color before brightening to a golden tan. A tolerant cultivar that thrives in modestly poor soils, this plant retains its color year-round so long as it has sufficient sunlight.
Festuca rubra
Red Fescue
Red Fescue (Festuca rubra) is a perennial grass that makes an excellent ground cover and is often planted for erosion control. It thrives in full sun to shade and is often planted for its shade tolerance. Can be manicured like turfgrass or left longer. Its thin, needle-like leaves dance in the wind to add movement to the garden.
Festuca californica
California Fescue
California Fescue (Festuca californica) grows in partially shaded areas and requires little water. It is one of the best grasses for erosion control. Conservationists also use it to repopulate grassland that’s been cleared or taken over by non-native plants. California Fescue is native to both Oregon and California.
Festuca glauca
Blue fescue
Blue fescue (*Festuca glauca*) is a clump-forming ornamental grass that is an evergreen perennial. Blue fescue is often planted for ornamental groundcover, but can become a weed if not carefully controlled. The Latin name Festuca glauca means "pale blue-grey."
