How to Propagate Lindens?
Lindens species can be propagated via seed sowing, hardwood or softwood cuttings, layering, or grafting. Successful propagation hinges on factors such as appropriate stratification for seeds, correct timing for cuttings, suitable soil mixture, adequate light conditions, and proper temperature management. Special considerations include seed dormancy that requires cold stratification and susceptibility to fungal diseases during cutting propagation. It is of moderate difficulty to propagate lindens, often challenging due to slow germination and rooting.
To propagate using cuttings:
1.In late winter or early spring, take 6-8 inch cuttings from mature branches.
2.Dip the cut end in rooting hormone.
3.Plant cuttings in a mixture of sand and peat moss.
4.Maintain high humidity and moderate temperatures.
5.After rooting, transplant to individual pots before moving to their final location.
