How can I prune my Field pumpkin through different growth stages?

You won’t need to prune your Field pumpkin much or at all during its initial growth phases. During those phases, your seed will germinate and begin developing its main vines above the ground. These vines typically grow just fine on their own. However, if, for whatever reason, you want your plant to have more branching vines rather than a few main vines, you can pinch off the buds at the end of your plant at this time. Later, when the plant has developed to a fruiting stage, you should perform the main pruning tasks described in the section above. Upon finding fruits developing on your Field pumpkin vines, you may also want to prune the end of the vines just beyond the outermost viable fruit, which will help your plant put energy toward fruit growth rather than more vine growth.
