There are a few times during the year when you should not fertilize your
Virginia creeper. The first time occurs during the early and mid-winter months, during which time your
Virginia creeper will be dormant and in no need of feeding.
It is also unwise to fertilize this plant during the late spring and all of the summer. During that time of year, the weather will likely be hotter and can be much dryer as well. Both conditions make it more likely that your
Virginia creeper will have a very negative response to fertilization. To avoid such issues, stick to a fertilization schedule that involves feeding exclusively during early spring and early fall.
