What is the best way to water my Buddhist pine?

Buddhist pine
Podocarpus macrophyllus
Learn More
Your Buddhist pine will not be too picky about how you choose to water it. As such, you can use just about any common watering tool to moisten this plant’s soil. Watering cans, hoses, and even cups will work just fine when it is time to water your Buddhist pine. Regardless of which watering tool you use, you should typically apply the water directly to the soil. In doing so, you should ensure that you moisten all soil areas equally to give all parts of the root system the water it needs. It can help to use filtered water, as tap water can contain particles that are harmful to plants. It is also beneficial to use water that is at or slightly above room temperature, as colder or hotter water can be somewhat shocking to the Buddhist pine. However, the Buddhist pine usually responds well to any kind of water you give it.
Buddhist pine (Podocarpus macrophyllus)
Buddhist pine
A species of Plum pines, Also known as Fern pine, Japanese yew
Botanical name: Podocarpus macrophyllus
Genus: Plum pines
Description
The buddhist pine (*Podocarpus macrophyllus*) is a medium-sized evergreen conifer that can be trained as a bonsai tree, which is a form of Japanese horticultural art. In Feng Shui mysticism, the buddhist pine is considered to be very valuable, a fact that has led to illegal collection. The tree contains a mild toxin, so care should be exercised.
Garden Use
Grown as shrubs, hedges, screens, and small trees, the buddhist pine can reach heights of between 91 to 2438 cm tall, depending on the variety. It is slow-growing and easy to care for, with a year-round ornamental appeal. The softly-textured, evergreen leaves are complemented by tiny flowers in the spring, followed by purple berries (which are loved by birds) in the fall.
