Species of Boxwood

Sweet boxes
Sweet boxes are a small genus of slow-growing shrubs that are frequently cultivated for their fragrant winter flowers and evergreen foliage, making them excellent as groundcover or hedges. This genus' Latin name Sarcococca actually has its origins in Greek words for "fleshy berry," in reference to the black fruit produced by every plant.
Boxes
Boxes comprise a genus of shrub plants that are popular as evergreen hedges. They grow slowly and are easily pruned to make an attractive border for a garden or walkway. The wood is fine-grained and does not splinter. It is excellent for carving and is a preferred source for making chess pieces or wood blocks for printing.
Pachysandra
Pachysandra comprise a genus of evergreen perennials and semi-shrubs. The genus belongs to the boxwood family, so they share some common traits - most notably, the leathery leaves. Pachysandra plants can be grown in deep shade, and thus are popular ground cover plants for shady gardens.
