Description

Species of Treebine

Rex begonia vine
Cissus discolor, or the rex begonia vine, is a species of Cissus found in Southeast Asia in China, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand at elevations of 600–2000 meters

Grape ivy
Despite its name, grape ivy (Cissus alata) is neither a true grape nor ivy. However, it does have a sprawling growth pattern and grape-like leaves, which may explain its name. This plant tolerates poor growing conditions and is used as a houseplant and for groundcover.

Sorrelvine
The Cissus trifoliata is a vine that sprawls and climbs over rocks and trees in different habitats. The plant produces small, inedible berries which ripen to black in the fall. The roots of the sorrelvine species are poisonous, and its sap can result in dermatitis on the skin of those who are sensitive to it.

Kangaroo vine
Kangaroo vine (Cissus antarctica) is a plant species native to Australia. Kangaroo vine grows in a widespread manner in warmer rainforest of Australia's coastal regions. This species is considered a true climbing vine.

Veldt-grape
The veldt-grape (Cissus quadrangularis) is a succulent native to tropical Asia and parts of Arabia and Africa. While it makes a good, low-maintenance windowsill plant, it can also climb tall trees using its grape-like tendrils, and cascade down from the top. It is tough and adaptable, surviving both drought and neglect.

Possum grape
Native to Mexico, the possum grape's coiled tendrils can be observed climbing and swallowing entire trees. In addition to its decorative significance, this plant is grown for local usage as a source of fibers, soap, and medicine.

Treebine 'Ellen Danica'
A climbing, tropical vine, treebine 'Ellen Danica' is easy to grow indoors. It's different from its close vine relatives due to its slightly larger and more divided leaves. Providing medium to bright light and allowing the soil to dry out just a bit before watering provides optimal conditions for treebine 'Ellen Danica'. Without a trellis or other structure to climb, this treebine cultivar will instead trail.

Cissus microcarpa
Cissus microcarpa are a large genus of climbing vines. They live in tropical and subtropical climates. Some species are popular as ornamental vines, often grown indoors in cooler climates due to their lack of frost tolerance. Cissus microcarpa plants are notable for their succulent, fleshy leaves.
