Species of Tumbleweed

Declinate bugseed
Declinate bugseed (Corispermum declinatum) isn't grown commercially but it is harvested from the wild for its seeds. It also grows as a weed in cultivated fields and is particularly prevalent in grain that is sown in spring and sometimes totally obscures the crop. In windy conditions the plant can act as a tumbleweed, blowing away and spreading its seeds.

Hairy bugseed

American bugseed

Hyssop-leaved tickseed
Hyssop-leaved tickseed is a native of sand fields and migrating dunes, which means it is endangered by habitat loss. It is a straggly growing annual herb that can be mistaken for a Summer-Cypress. It used to be known as Corispermum Leptopterum and is noted for its unique autumnal purplish-red hues.
