Buttongrass
Buttongrass is a resilient grass often found in arid or coastal environments, reflecting its adaptation to tough conditions. Typically, it exhibits narrow leaves with a rough texture, suggesting its common name, Button Grass. Its distinctive seed heads strikingly resemble fingers, providing a visual clue to its genus, 'Dactyloctenium', which means 'finger-like'. This survivalist plant forms low-lying mats, an adaptation that helps it thrive in harsh soils and reduce water loss.
