Geohintonia mexicana
Geohintonia mexicana is a rare, slow-growing cactus native to the gypsum hills of northeastern Mexico. This distinctive plant has a globular, blue-green body studded with white, cotton-like areoles, giving it a frosted appearance. Its solitary growth habit and large, deep magenta flowers, blooming near the crown, are adapted to the arid habitat. Geohintonia mexicana relies on infrequent but heavy rain for survival, storing water within its thick, succulent walls.
