The sainfoins, often referred to as 'sainfoin', is a hardy plant genus best adapted to well-drained, alkaline soils, and full sun exposure. Light watering is a basic need, coupled with a pinch of patience as it grows slowly. The genus deals well with cold temperatures but encounters challenges in overly humid or waterlogged conditions which may trigger root rot. Sainfoins can tolerate pests such as aphids, but fungal infections are a potential threat. Seasonally, it flourishes in summer but a reduction in watering is advised in the dormant winter months.
