Description

Rebutia are small flowering cacti that originate in South America. The genus was given its name 'Rebutia' in homage to the French cactus cultivator, Monsieur P. Rebut. These cacti are petite, globular, and vibrant in color. They produce flowers that are comparable in size to their cactus bodies and grow on hills and mountains in the wild. Many rebutia are popularly cultivated as houseplants thanks to their magnificent blooms.

Red crown cactus
Red crown cactus (Rebutia minuscula) is flowering cactus originating from northern Argentina. In the wild, red crown cactus grows in rocky outcrops and in the Yunga forest. It is also threatened due to surrounding agriculture. Red crown cactus is often planted ornamentally as a houseplant on sunny patios. For optimal growth, it can be planted in containers filled with cactus compost.

Orange crown cactus
Orange crown cactus (Rebutia fiebrigii) is a flowering cactus that grows in a mound. Orange crown cactus originates in Bolivia, where it is abundant. In the wild, this species grows in grasslands and slopes near the Andes mountains. When orange crown cactus is grown as a houseplant, it does best when its soil is allowed to completely dry out between waterings. It is also called the flame crown.
