Brackens
The brackens (genus Pteridium) are a large and cosmopolitan group of ferns. Generally hardy and suited to many habitats, brackens can be found growing just about everywhere save deserts and the arctic. Though many species sport handsome, deep green fronds, they are usually not planted ornamentally, as they have a tendency to take over cultivated areas – in some areas, in fact, brackens are considered pest or invasive species, even when they are native.
