Using PictureThis

One of the identifications is not accurate, what should I do?

Since the app relies on a single picture to identify, sometimes changing the angle or distance a bit can help and please make sure the camera is focused on the species you want to identify. If you do know the correct name, you could correct the identification on the result page. After taking or uploading a picture, please scroll to the end, then tap “Change the result” (in our latest version) to input the name manually. How do I delete unwanted pictures from the app?

You can tap the 3-dots button on the top right of the picture and select “Delete” to remove the picture you do not want.

Does PictureThis only accept newly-taken pictures or can I select pictures from my album?

Both ways work on PictureThis. You can either take a new picture of the plant you just met or choose one that you saved in your mobile device gallery. On the shooting page, tap the Camera icon to take a new picture with your camera or tap ''AIbum'' at the bottom left of the screen to select a picture from your album gallery.

Can I get related information of the plant (e.g. edibility, toxicity)?

You will see this information on the identification result page. Since edibility/toxicity of plants is directly related to people’s health, we don’t suggest you taste any unfamiliar plants without professional help around. Safety is a matter of prime importance. Such info will gradually be added after strict audit.

How do I know if the plant is a weed or not?

PictureThis can identify weeds and advise on how to get rid of them. The weed indication info will be displayed on the identification result page if the plant is considered as invasive or unwanted in most cases. You can then tap “More” to learn more about how to identify and get rid of this type of weeds.

How can I save photos I take in the app?

You could manually save a single photo by tapping the photo on the details page and long press to save.

How do I share my identification with friends?

I’m glad to hear that you’d like to share the information with your friends. To do so, here are instructions: 1. Launch the app>Go to Me section 2. Tap the plant picture you’d like to share 3. Tap “Share” button at the bottom 4. Select a channel to export the information out

Can I use PictureThis offline?

Since PictureThis runs on a big plant database, the identification process requires a network connection. When offline, the photos taken with PictureThis will be saved automatically to the Me section and will be identified once you are back online. An alternative is to take photos offline with your phone's camera roll and upload the photos to identify when the connection is back.

How can I set plant care reminders?

You could set watering and fertilizing frequency for your plants. For a plant that has been identified: 1. Tap the plant picture in collections. 2. Scroll down the details page and tap "Add to My Garden" first, then add a plant name. 3. Go to Plant Care (as indicated in the red circle) with the round flower icon on the top right of home page. ++PIC1++ 4. Set the watering and fertilizing frequency for your plant. In the plant details, the plant care information is also there. For a plant that has not been identified yet: 1. Go to Plant Care on the home page. 2. Tap "+" button to take a picture of the plant and add it to garden. There will be notifications showing up on your phone when watering and fertilizing is needed.

How can I diagnose my plant with PictureThis?

To diagnose a plant problem, please tap “Diagnose” on the homepage, and upload the pictures of this plant. If you are not satisfied with the auto diagnosis result, it is suggested to tap the “Ask Expert for Help” button at the bottom of the “Diagnose” page. Once we receive your consultation ticket, our botanist team will customize a treatment plan for your plant within 24 hours.

How can I get more free IDs on Android?

To get more free IDs, please tap "Free IDs" at the top of the screen on Android when taking a new photo in PictureThis. You can either share the app with your friends or play Feeling Lucky if you’d like to. In this way, you will get at least 4 IDs each day, and please use them in time before they expire.

Managing Your Account

How do I share the account with others?

To do that, you may need to update the newest version of PictureThis, here is a way to share to your Premium membership on more than one iOS/Android device: 1. Launch PictureThis on one device; 2. On the home page, go to Me sector, then tap"Settings" icon in the upper right corner; 3. Tap "Profile"; 4. Tap"Sign in". You could sign up with your Email. Then you could go here to sign in with your registered account on another device.

How to restore my Premium membership on a new device?

If you have an active subscription to PictureThis Premium, Restore Purchase helps you regain access to it. 1. Make sure you are logged in with the same Apple ID/Google account that you used to sign up to a subscription 2. Launch the PictureThis App 3. Tap Me section at the bottom of the homepage 4. Tap the "Diamond" icon on the top right of Me section 5. Tap "JOIN NOW" 6. Tap "Restore" on the top left of the subscription offer page

Do I need to sign up to use PictureThis?

Signing up is not mandatory for our users to use PictureThis app. Once you successfully download and open PictureThis, our system will assign a unique secure account for you to use on your current device. You can access everything with this account. No user-created account is required even if you upgrade to PictureThis Premium. However, we do recommend signing up with email to keep your data safe when you lose or change your device.

How to edit my profile?

You can view and update your profile by the following steps: 1. Go to “Me” tab; 2. Tap "Settings" icon in the upper right corner; 3. Tap "Profile". Then you could change your profile photo, username and gender.

Some function is not working, what should I do?

Re-installing the app usually solves most technical issues. The account is bound with your Apple ID/Google account, so it’s safe to re-install. If the problem persists, please feel free to find us at

How do I delete my account?

After deleting your new account, all the data in it would be gone. Please take a serious consideration before doing this. 1. Launch PictureThis and tap the Settings button on the upper-right corner of Me section. 3. Tap "Help". 4. Find the question “How do I delete my account”, then tap "Delete Account".

Is my information safe?

We are cautious about sharing personal information. Although we require access to your photo gallery, we never process any photos without your permission. Rest assured that we will NEVER share your information with anyone.
